Chris Rogers recokns that England Team need more Skills
Despite the fact that England won three test matches in a row to end the home summer, Chris Rogers reckons they have still not been able to rebuild themselves to a class test team.
According to Rogers, the first thing that England has to sort is the opening pair which is unsettled at this point of time. Alastair Cook, who has recently lost his One Day captaincy, got a few half centuries there in that series versus India, but, his place in the playing XI is questionable and the same applies for his partner Sam Robson as well.
Rogers is of the view if the opposition has a good bowling attack and the inroads are made early to England’s top order, there would be huge pressure on Three Lions as there are young faces batting at 5, 6 and 7.
However, Rogers does know that England has got a couple of bowlers who would be firing in English conditions.
Anderson and Broad, these two might not have proven to be that deadly for Australia on flat pitches back home, but, the cool weather and heavy clouds in England, particularly at some venues, would give them the chance to test the Kangaroos big time.
Talking about where England is, as a test team, presently, Rogers said, “They would have been very happy with the way the last half of that series against India unfolded. There were certainly a few big positives there.”
“But, as an opposition, when you see that team, you do feel that you can put them into trouble. They have a shaky opening pair and in bowling too, apart from the two quality guys that they have with the new ball, the change bowlers have not been that productive.”
