TROTT HAILS COOK

August 28th, 2013

The English top order batsman, Jonathan Trott, has hailed the captaincy style of Alastair Cook and has said that the players are extremely comfortable under him.

Cook has had a fantastic beginning as captain. England is yet to lose a test series under his captaincy.

Talking to the reporters about Cook’s captaincy, Trott said, “He is a fine leader who is well respected in the dressing room. He makes everybody in the camp feel comfortable.”

“He has started brilliantly as captain. The way he led the team in India was incredible. He is someone who always leads from the front.”

“The other good thing about Alastair is that he always listens to the other players. He always looks for advices.”

After the retirement of Andrew Strauss, it’s Trott who has been standing at first slip to the spin bowlers. When asked how it is like fielding at that position, Trott said, “It’s not easy to field in the slip cordon. You need to be on your toes all the time. But, I am enjoying that role.”

“Standing at that position, I am expected to help the skipper as far as using the DRS is concerned as I am in a good position to judge the line of the delivery, nicks and all that.”

“I was the one who had asked Alastair to go for the review against Phil Hughes in the first test match. I told him that it was pitching in line and he went for it. I think I should be given credit for that wicket.”

Trott has been dismissed for duck a couple of times in the ongoing Ashes series. When asked about that, Trott said, “I felt a bit disappointed about it, but, I can’t change it now. All I can do is to move on and look forward to the next test match and that’s what I am doing.”
