Moeen Ali Sadened after Booing in Edgbaston
Thursday, December 4th, 2014The all rounder of the England Cricket Team, Moeen Ali, has said that he was hurt when some of the Indian fans had booed him in Edgbaston.
Moeen’s origins are from Pakistan and the relationship between India and Pakistan is not particularly good.
It was the reason perhaps that the people supporting India during that game had a verbal go at Moeen when he was fielding at the boundary line.
According to Moeen, he did not understand the reason why those people targeted him. His ancestors might be from Pakistan, but, he is born and brought up in England.
Moeen was quoted speaking in an interview, “It was quite strange. I don’t live too far away from that place. So, I was a bit of a local there. Still, I got treated that way. It’s a shame.”
“I can understand that in the Asian continent, your origin is of great importance and there is nothing wrong in that. Origin does matter for an individual, but, the place and the culture where you have grown up, that also matters.”
Moving the chat to cricket later on, Moeen said that he has decided not to bowl his away going delivery now, having seen so many off spinners being reported by the ICC umpires.
Moeen had been taught the art of bowling the away going ball by the Pakistan international Saeed Ajmal who himself is banned right now.
Moeen understands that his fate might be the same as Ajmal if he continues bowling that ball.
The Worcestershire player said, “I am obviously not going to risk my career trying to do it and I am not an expert at it anyway. So, I would not bring it out of my repertoire.”
Moeen has had a great start to his career with the ball. He is now being considered as a full time bowler by many people.
